Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake Overview
The Tilicho and Thorong La Pass is a combined trek of the Manang and Annapurna Circuit of 14 days through Nepal’s western region around the Annapurna. The trek involves the best panoramic views of breathtaking landscapes, cultural immersion, and high-altitude challenges. We start our journey from Kathmandu in a scenic private jeep drive to Chame. We will ascend through the lush forests and quaint villages towards the Upper Pisang. We will get the opportunity to soak in the Buddhist Culture and majestic Annapurna Views. The strolling ahead will take us to Manang. In Manang, we have an acclimatization day scheduled with an extra hike to the nearby Ice Lake. The trek continues towards Tilicho Lake, winding through the rugged terrains framed by the snow-capped peaks.

The outlined itinerary below is our standard 14-day Tilicho Lake Thorong La Pass Trek. If you have more time and prefer a slower pace, or would like to include the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek as an add-on, we can happily customize the program to suit your needs.

You arrive in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. After landing, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. This day is mainly for rest after your journey. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore nearby areas, enjoy local food, or simply relax and prepare for the adventure ahead.

You’ll take a long but scenic drive in a private jeep. The road follows rivers, hills, and mountain views as you gradually leave the busy city behind. The drive can be bumpy in some sections, but it’s an adventurous way to reach the mountains. By evening, you arrive in Chame, a small mountain town.

Your trekking begins today. You’ll walk through forests, cross suspension bridges, and enjoy views of snow-capped peaks. The trail is steady and not too difficult, making it a good first trekking day. You’ll stay overnight in Upper Pisang, a peaceful village with beautiful mountain views.

Today is a longer walk, but also one of the most scenic days. You’ll take the higher route through Nawal village, which offers stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas. By the time you reach Manang, you’ll notice the landscape becoming drier and more rugged.

This is a rest day, but not a complete rest. You’ll take a short hike to help your body adjust to the altitude. This is very important to avoid altitude sickness. You can also explore the village, visit small cafes, or enjoy the mountain surroundings.

The trail becomes quieter as fewer trekkers go toward Tilicho Lake. You’ll walk on narrow paths with impressive mountain views. The altitude is higher now, so the pace is slower and more relaxed.

Today’s walk takes you through rugged terrain with some landslide-prone sections, but nothing too technical. You’ll reach Tilicho Base Camp, which is a simple but stunning place surrounded by mountains.

You’ll wake up early and hike to Tilicho Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world. The views are breathtaking, with snow-covered peaks reflecting in the lake. After spending some time there, you’ll trek back down to Siri Kharka for the night.

You rejoin the main Annapurna Circuit trail. The walk is gradual and peaceful, passing through open landscapes where yaks often graze. The air is thinner, so walking slowly is important.

This is a short but important day as you prepare for the highest point of the trek. You’ll walk uphill to Thorong Phedi, which is the base before crossing the pass. You’ll rest early and prepare for the next challenging day.

This is the toughest but most rewarding day. You’ll start very early (around 4–5 AM) to cross Thorong La Pass. The climb is slow and steady due to the altitude. At the top, you’ll enjoy incredible views and a great sense of achievement. Then you descend to Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site.

After days in the mountains, you’ll take a jeep ride down to Pokhara. The journey passes through dry Mustang landscapes and then greener hills. Pokhara feels warm and relaxing, with lakeside views and comfortable hotels.
