Pikey Peak trek is an incredible venture in the lower Everest region that offers an easy short trail, doable in spring, autumn, and winter. It is a newly opened trekking route that presents great views of the eastern Himalayan mountains. As per Sir Edmund Hillary (one of the first persons to climb Mt. Everest), Pikey Peak (4065m.|13333ft.) offers one of the best views of Mt. Everest. If you are looking for an easy, quick trek in the Solukhumbu region, then the Pikey Peak trail is the ideal option for you.

The gorgeous landscapes and comfortable trekking route make Pikey Peak trekking very unique. And the best part is, that you do not have to take the overwhelming Kathmandu Lukla flight to reach the starting point of the trek. From Kathmandu, it's a 7-8 hours drive to Dhap (2850m.|9348ft.), the starting point of the Pikey Peak trek. The trail ascends through remote mountain villages and dense forests of rhododendron & pine.

While trekking through the villages, you get to learn a lot about Sherpa culture and tradition. The trail also takes you across other communities like Tamangs, Rai, Limbus, Chhetri, etc. Likewise, there are stupas, prayer wheels, and prayer flags on the way. The overall journey is very impressive and offers a lifetime experience.

You get to taste trekking in the Himalayas without straining your body. Since many people do not know about the Peak peak trek, the trail is usually isolated or at least less crowded, unlike the famous EBC trail and ABC trail. For a long time, access to the trailhead was not suitable. Therefore, Peak Peak remained passive when other trekking routes in the Everest region got huge. And now, after the construction of a new road from Kathmandu to Solu highway, the Pikey peak trekking route is accessible.

Views during the Pikey peak trek

Pikey peak is known for breathtaking views of the eight-thousanders like Everest (8,848.86 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), Makalu (8,463 m), etc. There's a thing with mountains; the closer you get to them, the less alluring the views will get. You have to take a step back to savor the grand panorama, and Pieky peak is best for that. Other mountains like Thamserku (6,608 m), Nuptse (7,861 m), Pumori (7,161 m), Kangtega (6,782 m), etc are also seen during the trek.

The landscapes are fantastic too. The lush green hills and terraced fields along the way add more color to the picture. You'll be visiting the Thupten Choling monastery and a local school along the way. The locals are friendly and welcoming. There are waterfalls and beautiful suspension bridges too on the trail.

    Amazing Pikey Trek

My Family and me had an amazing experience trekking Pikey Peak in mid-April. While the weather was mixed, the breathtaking views more than made up for it—absolutely stunning! What truly made the trip special was our guide Bhairas. He was incredibly caring, always looking out for everyone, and had the best sense of humor. His energy and warmth turned the trek into a joyful adventure. Highly recommended!!!
