About Manakamana Temple

According to historical legend, in the 17th century, during the reign of the Gorkha Kingdom, the queen of King Rama Shah was believed to have had a connection to the goddess. The most well-known legend is associated with the queen of King Rama Shah and her devotee, the tantric priest Lakhan Thapa Magar. It is believed that only Lakhan Thapa was aware of the queen's power. One day, a farmer  ploughing the field observed an unusual event where blood and milk flowed from a stone. When Lakhan Thapa was notified, he identified it as  a divine sign of the Goddess Manakamana appearing at that place. Following this incident, the temple was constructed on the site, and Lakhan Thapa became the first priest of the temple.
