Lara and I did the Manaslu Circuit 13 day trek (adding in some acclimatisation days) in September 2024 with Nepal Nirvana Trails.
The trip very easy to organise, from an initial call we had with KP when booking, to two meetings with both KP and our guide Ram. The whole process was made very smooth by KP, and he was kind enough to lend us some gear that we were missing for the hike.
We had an amazing team on the hike. Firstly, our guide Ram was incredible, he tailored everything about the hike to suit us, incl. Pace, Meals, Teahouses etc. His knowledge about both fauna, flora and culture in the Himalayas meant we learnt so much on the trip. When Lara experienced some acute AMS symptoms, Ram was very helpful and caring, and made sure the we adjusted the plan to help us acclimatise and make it over the Pass (which we did!). Our Porter Dev, was legendary. He was so much more than a porter during the trip. His constant positivity and energy made the trip so enjoyable. One of our highlights of the trip was playing evening card games between Lara, Ram (the self professed card-man), Dev (the real card-man), and I.
We received outstanding service along the entire trek. In every village we stayed at really lovely tea houses, had the best rooms in every tea house, ate great food, and received the quickest service.
We shopped around a bit, receiving quotes from 5 different tour providers, and KP's Nepal Nirvana Trails offered the best value for us. When compared to fellow trekkers we met en-route, this was definitely confirmed, we got a great deal!!!!!!
Overall, we had the most incredible experience with Nepal Nirvana, Ram, Dev and KP. We cannot recommend booking with them enough.
I had done some research of treks and came across Pikey peak and I am so happy I did. Along the trek it was just myself, the guide Jangbu (who has a great knowledge of the Everest region), and the porter Pasang (who can carry a car if he wanted). My experience is something I will remember and I recommend it for anyone that wants to experience a less busy trek. I also highly recommend requesting for Jangbu and Pasang as they are the reason for my great memories.
The BEST trekking company in Nepal. Truely I could not fault this company and the incredible experience and safety they provided. We laughed and smiled the whole way with our guide Uttar and porter Prajil (I recommend asking for them, they are incredible at their jobs).
We actually did the ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT TREK + TILICHO LAKE - 18 Days
We were delayed a day entering Nepal and Kul and his team were very adaptable to our needs. They picked us up at the airport at 11pm and had a hotel ready for us on arrival. The quality was lovely, basic and clean.
We met at Nepal Nirvana Trails office in Thamel and Kull welcomed us with open arms. We got to know each other, introduced us to Uttar our Guide and Prajil our Porter (also a guide). Aside from running us through the necessary details and payments, the best thing to hear from them was: “we are here to guide, not control, it is your holiday.” We felt safe, and unrestricted. The strongest part of the companies planning was starting at lower altitude (850m) and having two days of hiking at the beginning of the journey to gently move us up to higher altitude and condition you for the physical journey ahead.
After purchasing some essentials they recommended we set off the next day. Private car to the public bus for the 8 hour travel to Bhesisahar. The start was hot humid days and some very steep ascending but the scenery made it so worth it.
From the very first day to our last, Utter and Prajil checked in on us every chance they could but had no problem with us trekking at our own pace (ahead or behind). They were the perfect balance of being on top of things and relaxed. Most days we laughed to tears and played cards and enjoyed getting to know them, their life in Nepal and educated us on culture, religion and the mountains.
As we got to the Manang district, I started to feel the altitude, headaches, some nausea, but our guides didn’t make a big deal of this and they knew exactly how to help us and the design of the trek is perfectly curated to ensure the acclimatisation is achieved and you’re safe.
One of the best parts of the journey, aside from the stunning views and scenery was the chance to change our days a little to see more. A special day was experiencing the Buddhist monetary of Upper Pissang with our guide Uttar who took us through the ritual of the temple and we made a blessing for good weather for our journey ahead…the next morning we had a clear vision of Annapurna II at sunrise and for the whole journey we saw every peak.
Utter offered us to make the journey to Tilicho Base Camp in one day instead of two as we were strong and trekking well which was perfect because we then eventually added that day to Pokhara at the end.
We did the Tilicho Lake addition and that was an incredible experience. I found the altitude effects a lot more than most (but it’s normal and can happen to anyone). The ascent to 4990m was hard but Utter and Prajil stuck by me, walked slowly with me and kept the mood high and happy. Once we got to the top, it was absolutely incredible and the most incredible morning. One of the greatest experiences of my life.
After that, we made the days trekking to High Camp for Tharong-La Pass. This is where altitude really started to catch up with me. But I communicated with Utter and Prajil every step of the way and they were so incredible and making sure I was okay and doing all I could to help. It should be noted that EVERYONE at the camp was feeling the altitude at that point so unless you’re debilitated, you’re not alone.
The hike to The Pass at 5415m was the toughest yet. I pushed myself to complete it and I’m so glad I did. My symptoms were not worse just very strong but Utter walked with me slowly the whole way, even taking my pack to ease my burden and making it to the top was the greatest feeling in the world. We all hugged and they were so proud of us.
The descent was the hardest part. I recommend if you have average knees to bring some braces to support you on the way.
A special experience was in Muktinath and all our guides came together and took us to the temple where we ran under the fountains and got blessed by a monk. Truely unique.
The rest of the trek was a jeep ride to Tatopani where we stopped at the monestary in Kagneni. The other days were a beautiful time walking down to low altitude through serene villages and rainforest. We even stopped for a swim in a rarely swam in river while our Jeep to Pokhara waited for the road to clear.
Oh, and our final night together, Uttar and Prajil gifted us a scarf each as a blessing of respect.
Accomodation, main meals and tea/coffee is taken care of by the initial cost of the hike. They even put us up an extra night in Pokhara with the extra day we had up our sleeve, all transport was paid for and they even had our last night in Kathmandu taken care of.
Most places aside from the high altitude villages had very nice lodging and food. The food was usually consistently appetising (I suggest ordering more Nepali food as it will be better made). Take a lot of cash with you as prices up high will be quite dear. Drink lots of water, take sunscreen, prepare for the weather to change daily and TIP YOUR GUIDE AND PORTER. These guys go above and beyond for you and I couldn’t have done it without them.
Don’t hesitate to book with Nepal Nirvana Trails. After experiencing many guides and porters on our journey, none compared to Uttar and Prajil for their expertise and friendship. They are truely family and take care of you like so.
Worth every cent and I’ll be booking my future treks with them, every time.
Thank you Uttar, Prajil and Kul for the greatest experience of my life.
