Alternatively, for a cost-effective choice, you may take a long-distance bus from Kathmandu (e.g., Gongabu Bus Park) to Nepalgunj, a trip that requires about 12-14 hours based on road conditions, and then use a local bus or hire a private vehicle for the final 2-3 hour journey to the park.

The park is located roughly 550 kilometers (342 miles) west of Kathmandu and about 90 kilometers (56 miles) north of Nepalgunj, which is the nearest significant city. Flight option from Pokhara

To travel from Pokhara to Bardiya National Park by air, you can take a domestic flight from Pokhara Airport (PKR) to Nepalgunj Airport (KEP) which is operated by Buddha Air. Flights from Pokhara to Nepalgunj operate three days a week—Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday, which take approximately 40 minutes. Once you arrive in Nepalgunj, our team will receive you and take you to the lodge in a private vehicle close to the Bardiya National Park.

Flight option from Kathmandu

To get from Kathmandu to Bardiya National Park, you will take a domestic flight from Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) to Nepalgunj Airport (KEP), which takes about 1 hour, and then drive in a private car/jeep to the Lodge.

Flights are the quickest choice, while buses are more affordable, so we have made the 4 Night 5 Days Jungle Safari Tour Package accordingly with the inclusion of flights to and from Nepalgunj Airport. Why Bardiya National Park Outshines Chitwan for an Unforgettable Jungle Safari?

When it comes to jungle safaris in Nepal, both Bardiya and Chitwan National Parks offer incredible wildlife encounters. However, Bardiya National Park stands out as the ultimate destination for those seeking a more secluded, authentic, and immersive safari experience.

Bardiya National Park features a higher likelihood of observing rare species, such as Bengal tigers, one-horned rhinoceroses, and wild elephants, attributed to its larger and less disturbed ecosystem. Its varied landscapes, comprising grasslands, riverine forests, and the picturesque Karnali River, attract a wide range of wildlife, establishing it as a paradise for nature lovers. Furthermore, the park is situated in the core of Tharu territory, offering visitors genuine Tharu cultural encounters and adding a distinctive cultural aspect to the safari experience.

Nepal Nirvana Trails is committed to serving you with all the tours and trekking plans based in Nepal and is completely customizable to suit your requirements, and we can arrange schedules at your convenience. Therefore, do not hesitate to reach out to us with any inquiries you may have regarding Bardiya National Park and other itineraries of interest.
