Nepal is a desired country for hiking and trekking all over the world. There are many routes and trails for travelers in Nepal. Among them, Chisapani to Nagarkot is a 3 Days hiking route, and it is one of the most considered and easy hiking trips. The Chisapani Nagarkot Hiking is a quick hike through the forest, Nepalese villages, and a secret valley near Kathmandu. The Chisapani Nagarkot Hike is mainly considered for an estimated short-time traveler and is budget-friendly.
The Chisapani Nagarkot hike takes you through leafy forests and past bubbling springs in Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. The temperature in Chisapani is always chilly since its name means "cold water" in Nepali, and you will appreciate the true beauty of nature while being away from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. Your interactions with the locals will add to the experience.
Nagarkot is renowned for its sunrise and panoramic mountain views. Nagarkot is 35 kilometers east of Kathmandu, 2175 meters from sea level. If the weather is favorable, we can see the eye-catching views of the mountains like Gauri Shankar, Mt. Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Ri, and Everestddition, Nagarkot hill is also a popular day-trip destination. Furthermore, our last destination is the UNESCO world heritage site Changu Narayan Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, which adds to the trek's worth.
Best Chisapani Nagarkot Hiking Season
The best hiking season for Chisapani Nagarkot is March to June, and September – December. The Chisapani Nagarkot hiking is possible in the winter and rainy seasons, but we cannot see the best views due to the cloudy weather.
After having breakfast, we keep our backpacks in private vehicles and set off on a drive of around 2 hours to Sundarijal. Sundarijal is the origin of the water supply for Kathmandu with an old water pipe date stamped from the last century running alongside the road and down the stone steps. We will begin our walk in Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park towards Chisapani. The hike to Chisapani would be about 4 to 5 hours according to your pace.
Lunch and Dinner
We will have our breakfast at Chisapani and begin our hike to Nagarkot. The trails pass through the Shivapuri National Park. So, it is more likely to encounter animals, such as mongooses, porcupines, jungle cats, pangolins, etc. We will take lunch at the Chauki Bhanjyang. We will reach Nagarkot in time to watch the sunset over the Himalayas. We can enjoy the views of the villages and hills before having dinner.
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Today we woke up early and walk up to the view tower to witness the sun rising over the mountains. We expect the weather to be clear without fog to enjoy the views. Then, we return to the hotel, have breakfast, rest for a while, and head towards Changu Narayan Temple, which is mainly a downhill walk. Changu Narayan is an ancient temple, the oldest in Nepal, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. We have our lunch and take a short drive back to Kathmandu.

I'd love to do the Everest Base Camp 14 day trek but only had 3 days so they provided Chispani and Nagarkot trek. I felt safe as a solo female traveler with the assigned tour guide/porter. KP from the company is very friendly and easy to work with. I was not feeling well during the first day of the trekking, so I had to come back to stay in the city for a night before 2nd day trekking starts. They were very adaptable and put my health first and make sure that I'm ok to continue. I would highly recommend this company and am looking forward to trek with them to Everest next time.
