On your arrival day, our team members will welcome you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and escort you to the hotel. You can take your time to unpack and relax before heading out to explore. The day with preparing for the trek and welcome dinner organized by the company.

To reach the starting point of the trek, you have to take a long, scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. After having breakfast, we will begin our journey. During the drive, get to enjoy mountain views, terraced fields, and rivers.

From Syabrubesi, begin trekking following the Bhote Kosi and Langtang Rivers. The trail goes through terraced fields and lush forests. Similarly, you will pass by remote villages and reach Rimche (2,400 m). Further, a short walk from this village leads to Lama Hotel.

The trail from Lama Hotel ascends through villages like Gumnachowk (2,769 m), Thomna (2,790 m), Ghodatabela (2,972 m), Thyangsyapu 3140m, Chyamki (3,230 m), and Langtang village (3,430 m) before taking to Mundu. You will get to see stunning views of Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, and Naya Kanga along the way. The exposure to the unique lifestyle of Tamangs & Sherpas and a glimpse of their rich cultural heritage will make the trek fantastic.

The day begins crossing the ancient mani wall. On the way, you will be crossing beautiful small streams through wooden cantilever bridges and moraines. The constant heart-warming views of the snow-capped mountains and excellent landscape make the walk impressive. Likewise, the route to Kyanjin Gompa lets you witness a diverse range of flora and fauna of the Langtang National Park.

A very required rest day to acclimate your body with the altitude. Today, you will hike to Tserko Ri which offers great mountain views. There are also option hikes to Langshisa Kharka and Kyanjin Ri (4,773 m). Get to know the locals closely and visit the monastery. Spend time soaking in the beauty of the region and unwind.

After having breakfast, begin trekking, following the same trail back to Lama Hotel. Take a chance to enjoy the views as you drop down. Pass by the picturesque mountain villages one more time. The trail descends through dense forests to Ghoda Tabela. Here, we will take a small break for lunch and continue trekking down to Lama Hotel for the night's stay.

You will be trekking through lush forests of rhododendron and Bamboo. On the way, you may get to see animals like monkeys, wild boars, pheasants, etc. The route to Thulo Syabru offers close views of Ganesh Himal.

The trail further descends to Dhunche through terraced fields and forested paths. It will be a short trekking day. Pass by small settlement areas and witness lovely sceneries on the way.

After having breakfast, you will drive back to Kathmandu early in the morning. The drive will offer some last glimpse of mountains. Upon reaching Kathmandu, we will drop you at the hotel. Langtang Valley Trek difficulty

Langtang Valley Trekking is an easy venture in the Langtang region. It means the Langtang Valley Trek route does not include strenuous walking. With that being said, do not take the trek lightly. There are numerous ascends and descends through dense forests and rough paths. You will also come across a few steep sections while trekking.

Likewise, the trekker has to be able to walk 6 to 7 hours a day with a day pack. Therefore, good health and stamina are essential for Langtang Valley Trek 11 Days. The trek is doable and advised for beginners. 

Altitude Sickness

You will be touching almost 5,000 meters during the Langtang Valley Trek. This means the trek does possess risks of altitude sickness. On a high-altitude journey like this, altitude sickness is common, but we insist that you take all symptoms seriously to avoid further complications and possible hospitalization.

Some early symptoms of altitude sickness are:

  • loss of breath
  • vomiting
  • insomnia
  • headache
  • dizziness

If you see any of the above symptoms take a rest and drop down to a lower altitude. Inform the trek guide. He will help you with it. Some preventive measures of altitude sickness are mentioned below:

  • Never gain more than 500 meters in a day. The golden rule is to climb high, sleep low.
  • Keep drinking fluids like water, soup, etc to maintain your body's hydration level. A dehydrated body is prone to altitude sickness.
  • Do not drink alcohol or smoke while going up.
  • Eat a balanced diet and get lots of sleep.

Training for the Langtang Trekking

Training for the Langtang Valley trek should involve strengthening muscles, increasing core body power, and making a habit of long walks. For that, you can go on hikes that involve 6 to 7 hours of walking. Similarly, you can do cardio activities like swimming, running, or cycling to increase your stamina.

Langtang Trek Solo/Private/Group

Last Minute Booking for Langtang Valley Trek

To book a trek to Langtang at the last minute, you have to fully pay the Langtang Valley Trek package cost. There will be no refund if you cancel the trip after booking. In the peak season, it gets tough to take last-minute bookings because of packed accommodations along the trekking route. Still, we will try our best to arrange everything for you.

Langtang Valley Trek permit

To explore Langtang Valley, you have to get a TIMS Card and Langtang National Park Permit. Our Langtang Valley Trek cost includes all the permit fees, and our team will get the permits for you in advance.

TIMS Card cost: NPR 1000 per person

Langtang National Park Permit for SAARC nationals: NPR 1695 per person

Langtang National Park Permit for other nationals: NPR 3000 per person

Langtang Valley Trek best time

The best time for Langtang Valley Trek 11 days is during spring and autumn. These two are the peak trekking seasons in the Himalayas because of ideal weather conditions. March to April in spring and October to November in the autumn sees mild temperatures in the daytime with cold mornings & nights. 

The clear sky offers the best mountain views. The temperature ranges between 18°C to 5°C. The lower parts of the region can get hotter comparatively. The trail blooms with respective flora in both seasons.

Accommodation and Food

Langtang Valley Trek is known for its guest house accommodation. It is one of the biggest highlights of Langtang Valley Trekking. You will stay overnight in the local's house and experience an authentic mountain lifestyle. The rooms are very basic unlike in the other popular treks in Nepal. You can request a single room if you like. Our Langtang Valley Trek package involves shared rooms with two beds. 

The meals will be served as per the menu of the guesthouses. You can get Nepali and Tibetan dishes mostly, especially in the higher altitude villages along the trail. Generally, dishes like dal bhat, Tibetan bread, chapati, veggies, curries, porridge, soup, momo, thukpa, thenduk, noodles, mashed potatoes, sandwiches, oatmeals, toast, eggs, etc are available for the meals. Boiled drinking water is available everywhere.

Dal bhat is the most fresh option in the menu and keeps you away from an upset stomach. Served with varieties of side dishes, dal bhat a delicious dish, eaten by every Nepali at least once a day.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is essential while trekking in the Himalayas, regardless of its difficulty grade. As there is no proper heal or transport infrastructure available in the Langtang region, the only way to offer you quick medical assistance in case of emergency is through airlift. 

Therefore, your travel insurance should cover air evacuation and medical bills. Do know that without travel insurance or a promise to pay the charges, the rescue team does not get ready to come.

  • From Kathmandu, you have to first reach Machhapokhari. It is a well-known bus stop. Every day many local buses go to Syabrubesi and Dhunche from here. The bus fare is around NRS 850, however the bus owner may ask you a little extra for foreigners. You can begin the trekking journey from Syabrubesi or Dhunche as per your wish.

  • Langtang region is situated north of Kathmandu and borders Tibet. The starting point of the trek Syabrubesi is located 80 km away from Kathmandu at 1,450 meters.

  • Langtang National Park is around 32 kilometers north of Kathmandu and connects the Qomolangma National Nature Preserve in Tibet. 

  • Langtang Trek is generally 7 to 8 days long, not including the arrival and departure. We offer the best 11 days Langtang Valley Trek itinerary that includes your arrival/departure.

  • Yes, Langtang Trek is one of the safest trekking routes in the Himalayas. The trail is not challenging as some other famous treks and maintains a good increase in elevation. Moreover, you can also complete the trek in 10 to 11 days.

  • Yes, you can do Langtang Valley Trek without a guide but the route does contain intersections and off-roads at various points including dense forests which can get confusing. There is a possibility that solo travelers may get lost on the trail. Moreover, the limited guest houses in the region also make it hard to get a room in the peak season if not booked in advance.

  • The maximum altitude you reach during the Langtang trekking is Kyanjin Ri at 4,500 meters or Tserko Ri at 5,000 meters. It depends where you are going for acclimatization.

  • No, there is no ATM on the trekking route in the Langtang region. Likewise, there is no money exchange service available along the way. Therefore, we recommend you withdraw enough cash to use during the trek in Kathmandu. You may need spare cash to pay for services like hot showers, charging booths, etc.

  • You may find WiFi in some guesthouses. Most of the places offer this service in exchange for a few extra bucks.
