A life-changing trek with jaw-dropping landscapes and a thrilling flight in & out of Lukla airport (2,846m.|9,337ft.).

Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Lake Trek is a fantastic trekking package in the Khumbu region. This trek goes beyond the Everest base camp and allows trekkers to explore the other beautiful corners of the Khumbu region. Unlike the EBC Trek, this venture is more on the difficult side, but at the same time, presents jaw-dropping mountain panoramas. It's a perfect trek for anyone who is looking for a bit offbeat and less crowded trekking experience.

Everest base camp & Gokyo Lakes trek takes you far away from the modern cities into the arms of unspoiled nature. As you trek in the Himalayas, the region is remote, and the trail has no access to roadways. Therefore, even small basic things are limited and pricey. The rejuvenating mountain air and its crisp cold will allow you to unwind. The trail is very enchanting, packed with waterfalls, streams, rivers, bridges, lush forests, chirping of birds, and mountains all around you.

Trekking through the picturesque Sherpa villages and visiting ancient monasteries, you head towards the lap of Mt. Everest, Everest Base Camp (5,364m.|17,594ft.). Before leaving this famous trail, you'll hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m.|18,192ft.) to catch a gorgeous sunrise. The trail then follows a glacial path to Dzongla (4,830 m) and crossing Cho La (5,420 m) the following day, you reach Gokyo village (4,750 m). Located at the eastern shore of the third Gokyo Lake at the base of Gokyo Ri (5,360m.|17,585ft.), Gokyo village is a wonderful village with welcoming locals.

Everest base camp Gokyo Lake trek presents both adventure and cultural experience. The overnight stay in Namche Bazaar (3,440 m), Tengboche (3,860 m), Dingboche (4,410 m), and other villages will let you see the daily lifestyle of the locals. Likewise, the Tengboche monastery and Pangboche monastery (3,985 m) let trekkers learn about the thriving cultural heritage of the region. Every day brings something exciting with it and unfolds heavenly landscapes.

Mountain views during the trek

On the way to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes, you get to witness an uncountable number of peaks and mountains. At Phakding village (2,610 m), you get to see the first view of Mt. Kongde Ri (6,187 m). Namche Bazaar presents the first glimpse of Mt. Everest (8,848.86 m), and from here onwards, you keep seeing various giant mountains.

    Useful Info

Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Lake Trek difficulty

Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Lake Trek is one of the toughest treks in the Everest region. It is perfect for trekkers with previous high-altitude experience. Trekking to Everest base camp and crossing Cho La pass is challenging. This trek requires physical fitness and determination to complete the trek.

The terrain is rough and steep. You walk on glaciers and moraine. Likewise, you also face the strong wind, cold, and limited services. The daily walk is 6 hours long and can go up to 8 to 9 hours on some days. Follow the lead of our guide and his instructions.

    Altitude Sickness

We have the perfect Gokyo Lake and EBC trek itinerary with ample rest days and lots of side hikes to viewpoints. This itinerary will give you enough time to adjust to the altitude, which ultimately helps in avoiding altitude sickness. At the same time, our crew will also keep an eye on everyone's health and take necessary measures if needed.

Altitude sickness is a common thing during the journey in the mountains. The early symptoms are bad headache, breathing problems, insomnia, loss of appetite, nausea, etc. If you feel any of these symptoms, inform your guide. If the precautions are taken on time, the altitude sickness will not escalate, and you can keep trekking.

*Note: In the rare chance, we may have to use emergency air evacuation and send you to a hospital in Kathmandu to get treatment for altitude sickness.

Everest base camp with Gokyo lake trek route

Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Lake Trek begins with an exciting flight to Lukla. From here, you'll follow the classic route to Everest base camp that ascends through beautiful Sherpa villages like Phakding, Namche Bazar, Tengboche, Pangboche, Dingboche, Lobuche and Gorakshep .

On the second day of the trek, you enter the Sagarmatha National Park. The initial part of the trail goes through lush rhododendron forests, crossing numerous suspension bridges and passing by waterfalls.

Once you go above the treeline (beyond Dingboche), the terrain gets steeper and rugged. You'll walk on glaciers and paths filled with loose rocks. Passing by Gorak Shep, you trek and reach EBC. As Mt. Everest view is blocked at the base camp, you hike to Kala Patthar the following day to witness a breathtaking mountain panorama.

The trail descends to Lobuche and goes to Dzongla. You'll cross the Cho La pass the next day and drop down to Gokyo village. It's a gorgeous remote village, located at the shore of one of the Gokyo Lakes. Next morning, hike to Gokyo Ri for a sunrise view and explore the stunning Gokyo Lakes. Gokyo Ri offers the best view of Mt. Everest along with other stunning peaks. Further, the trail descends to Dole and goes back to Lukla via Namche Bazaar.

Best time to trek to Gokyo Lake & EBC trek

The best time to do Goko Lake & EBC trek is in the spring (March to May) and autumn (October to November) seasons. It's trekking season in Nepal, and welcomes travelers from all around the world. The Khumbu region trails especially get bustling and vibrant. The stable weather and moderate climate let the trekker enjoy the journey freely. The mountain views are fantastic, and the seasonal vegetation enhances the trails furthermore.

    Accommodation

Everest Gokyo lake trail has lodge accommodation. Most of the hotels do not have big rooms but are comfortable and clean. They provide a clean pillow and blanket. The washroom is common most of the time. The services in lodges are minimal. The upper part of the trail has even more basic accommodation facilities. Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is needed for the Everest base camp trek with Gokyo lakes. Because you will be traveling in a remote area at a high altitude, it's best to have travel insurance. Your travel insurance must-have emergency air evacuation and medical bill coverage.
